The General Assembly of the General Council of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of Seville has backed the candidacy of José Roda Peña, who secured 81 votes in the election held this Monday. Roda Peña succeeds Paco Vélez, who has led the institution for the past eight years.
The alternative candidacy, led by Carlos López Bravo, received 40 votes. The count concluded with five blank votes and one null vote. The Council expressed gratitude for the participation and congratulated the elected candidacy, which will lead the institution for the next four years.
The General Council of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of Seville manages various aspects of the Holy Week. According to 2026 data, Holy Week saw 35,000 more nazarenos than in 2014, representing an 86% growth.
Elections continue this Tuesday within Seville's confraternity sphere with the General Chapter of Elections for Esperanza de Triana, where members can vote from 5 PM to 11 PM on June 30th.
