The Territorial Delegation of Educational Development and Vocational Training in Huelva has announced the incorporation of new Vocational Training (FP) qualifications for the 2024-2025 academic year, strengthening the link between education and the province's productive sector. A notable addition is the new specialization in Mastery of Curing Ham and Paleta Carving and Tasting, which will be offered at the IES San Miguel in Jabugo, an emblematic sector for Huelva's economy.
During the presentation in Jabugo, the territorial delegate, Carlos Soriano, highlighted the "greatest growth in its history" for FP in Huelva, with 38 new qualifications implemented since 2021-2022. Currently, the province boasts nearly 300 training cycles, over 11,000 students, and 58 publicly funded centers. Soriano emphasized the importance of aligning training with strategic sectors capable of generating employment, particularly in rural areas to retain population.
The new specialization in ham carving will enable students to pursue careers as master carvers, professional tasters, or ham masters, acquiring skills in selecting, preparing, and carving ham, focusing on quality criteria and economic objectives. This meat sector in Huelva comprises over 140 companies and generates more than 1,200 jobs.
In addition to the ham mastery course, ten new training cycles are being introduced in various locations across the province: Almonte (IES Doñana), Corrales (IES Juan Antonio Pérez Mercader), Huelva (IES Alonso Sánchez, IES Fuentepiña, IES Pintor Pedro Gómez, IES San Sebastián), Lepe (IES La Arboleda), Minas de Riotinto (IES Cuenca Minera), and Moguer (IES Juan Ramón Jiménez), Palos de la Frontera (CPIFP Profesor José Luis Graíño).
The admission and enrollment process for FP will remain open from June 15 to June 30. Interested students can apply through the Virtual Secretariat of the Junta de Andalucía.
