The initiative, part of the 'Every Gaze Deserves a Clear Future' program, aims to prevent social exclusion by improving access to child vision health. The children, referred by organizations such as Save the Children and Fundación Secretariado Gitano, were attended at the ONCE Luis Braille Educational Resource Center.
The screenings included optometric tests to detect refractive errors and ophthalmological examinations to identify visual pathologies that could affect the minors' development and learning.
The medical team comprised professionals from Fundación Barraquer, ophthalmologists from the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center, optometrists from General Óptica, and support and volunteer staff.
“"The need to bring specialized visual care closer to minors who may face more barriers in accessing these types of check-ups."
“"We aim for visual health to reach those who may have the most difficulty accessing a complete examination."
