The former assistant of Sevilla FC, who currently coaches a team in Moscow, has voiced his concerns about the direction of the Andalusian club. Despite the distance, he closely follows the team's news and stays in touch with the coaching staff to watch matches.
“"I see it with doubts and with sadness. It's a big club where things have changed so much."
The coach recalled his time at the club, where he was part of the team that won the Europa League in Budapest. He attributes much of that success to the fans, whom he considers a fundamental pillar for the team.
“"I have witnessed how the Sevilla fans won a title; I say it clearly. We, Mendi, with the rest of the staff, gave our souls, but everyone knows that Europa League was won by the Sevilla fans alone."
He also recounted a difficult episode after a match in Vigo, where the fans expressed their displeasure. Despite the harshness of the situation, he maintains deep respect for the club's supporters and trusts their ability to push the team through difficult times.
The coach expressed optimism regarding the team's ability to stay in the league, based on the club's prestige and the quality of its players, whom he believes are underestimated. He hopes the current coaching staff will manage to bring out the best version of the squad.
