The intervention on the facade of Seville's Central Fire Station, situated in the San Bernardo district, represents the culminating stage of the comprehensive renovation of this unique building, which dates back to 1921. The project, which commenced in late August, is expected to last approximately seven months.
Regarding the main building, located next to the San Bernardo Bridge and accessible via Demetrio de los Ríos Street, the work includes partial roof repairs, replacement of carpentry, and intervention on the large cast-iron gates.
This fire station holds a cataloging level C, partial degree 1, according to the Special Protection Plan for Sector 18 ‘San Roque – La Florida’. The improvement plan encompassed not only the facades and roofs of the property, designed by Juan Talavera y Heredia, but also the emblematic tower and the adjacent nave.
In the central courtyard of the station, efforts have focused on various repairs and the inspection of floors and walls, while in the tower, existing carpentry required attention.
Regarding this initial reform program, "some small variations" have been incorporated, agreed upon with both the Fire Department personnel and the technicians from the Municipal Buildings Service.
The Seville City Council awarded the project to the UTE formed by Serveo Servicios SAU and Ayllon Servicios SA, with a budget of 727,362 euros (including VAT). This initiative is part of the ‘Municipal Buildings Action Plan’, and the most significant interventions are currently being carried out on the facades, as well as on the nave with access from Rastro Street, a building from the 1970s.
