“"At 15, I gave my life for a dream and that dream gave me a lifetime of meaning. The boots are silent today. But I smile fully: I lived the dream and touched the impossible. Football taught me everything: discipline, courage, surrender, joy, pain, and starting over. Looking back with gratitude... I left pieces of myself everywhere I went, I paid the price of my dream with sweat, renunciation, and faith. I never say goodbye to football, because it lives in me. Just closing a chapter. The story continues and now a new game begins. Thank you, football. You make me who I am. Forever one of yours."

Brazilian footballer Fernando Reges, one of Sevilla FC's most iconic figures in recent years, has announced his retirement from professional football at 38, following a knee injury sustained last summer.
The news, released on Friday, April 10, though anticipated, has deeply affected Sevilla Fútbol Club fans. Reges, who departed the Andalusian capital in January 2024, has decided to hang up his boots after an extensive and successful career, marked by his time at clubs such as FC Porto and Manchester City, in addition to his prominent spell at Nervión.
During his tenure at Sevilla FC, Fernando Reges played 167 matches, scoring seven goals and providing ten assists, solidifying his status as an idol for the fans. He was a fundamental part of the team that won two UEFA Europa Leagues: the first in 2020 against Inter Milan in Cologne, and the second in 2023 against AS Roma in Budapest. His contribution was key to the memorable "invincible diamond" alongside Yassine Bono, Jules Koundé, and Diego Carlos.
Fernando's farewell from the Sevilla club, on a rainy January night at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, was a bittersweet moment for the supporters. The player walked onto the pitch alone, accompanied by the trophies and a jersey with the number 167, symbolizing his matches as a Sevillista. The absence of a formal tribute and the defeat against Athletic Club by two goals to nil overshadowed the departure of one of the team's last historical stalwarts.
