This procedure, common in civil law, aims to achieve an amicable resolution between the parties before the conflict escalates to the courts. The confirmation of this date has been provided by legal sources.
The dispute originated on January 13, when María Jesús Montero, during a PSOE event, stated that Landaluce had been «convicted, denounced, and investigated» for a gender violence offense. The mayor of Algeciras considers these statements false, which prompted his defense to initiate a conciliation demand.
“"Convicted, denounced, and investigated."
In the filed demand, Landaluce's lawyer requires the former Minister of Finance to issue a public rectification of her words, cease similar future statements, and pay compensation of 200,000 euros for the damages caused.
The demand also refers to subsequent statements by Montero, in which, according to Landaluce's defense, she allegedly reiterated the existence of a complaint without specifying that it was filed by PSOE militants based on social media publications by MEP Alvise Pérez, and that the Supreme Court Prosecutor's Office archived the case on January 9.
For the conciliation act, which will take place just before the Andalusian elections, the law allows the parties to be represented by their lawyers or solicitors, without the need for personal appearance.
It is worth noting that Landaluce had previously filed a lawsuit against PSOE spokesperson Rocío Arrabal for public statements regarding his alleged involvement in a sexual abuse case against two councilwomen from Algeciras. However, the TSJA dismissed that case, and the mayor then pursued civil actions to protect his honor.
