Drug trafficking activity on the coast of Cádiz continues unabated, as does the police pressure to curb it. In recent hours, the Civil Guard has carried out several operations resulting in over a dozen arrests, the seizure of thousands of liters of smuggled gasoline, impounded vessels, and the apprehension of more than two tons of drugs.
The latest intervention occurred this Thursday, when agents from the Provincial Maritime Service arrested an individual and seized the drugs he was carrying. The detainee threw himself into the water from the recreational boat upon being surprised by the patrol boat.
According to Civil Guard sources, the agents had to maneuver the vessel to avoid running over the individual. He was arrested for drug trafficking, 800 kilos of hashish were seized, along with the cabin recreational boat equipped with a 300hp outboard motor.
The events took place in the afternoon as part of ongoing efforts to combat and prevent drug trafficking in the Bay of Cádiz and its territorial waters. Agents detected a recreational boat making suspicious maneuvers upon noticing the patrol boat. As they approached for an inspection, they observed the skipper, the sole occupant, jump into the water in an attempt to flee.
The Civil Guard officers then boarded the recreational boat and took control, as the detainee had left it running at a constant speed, posing an imminent risk of running him over. They eventually gained control of the vessel and rescued the trafficker, securing him and finding 20 burlap sacks of hashish inside.
