The exhibition proposes a dialogue between art and science based on the geological richness of the Iberian Pyritic Belt. The mural work by artist Alonso Murillo stems from research and fieldwork conducted with geologist Jorge Fernández (IGME-CSIC), who collected minerals from the area to use as natural pigments. Thus, the Casa de la Ciencia becomes a window into the real colors and materials of the earth.
This exhibition space invites a dual perspective, scientific and artistic, on the landscape, where geology becomes creative material and art serves as a tool to communicate knowledge. The project is complemented by educational information about the Iberian Pyritic Belt and an audiovisual presentation showcasing the research and creation process, from fieldwork to artistic development, highlighting the connection between territory, science, and artistic expression.
The exhibition is organized by the Casa de la Ciencia-CSIC, the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC), and Southern Spain RIS Hub EIT Raw Materials/CSIC.
