Families in Andalusia have from May 13 to May 22 to apply for their children's participation in the summer reinforcement program. This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, is designed for students in Primary Education and the first and second years of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO).
The resolution detailing the deadlines was published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA). Educational centers interested in participating could register between April 15 and April 25. Teachers wishing to teach in this program have the same period as families, from May 13 to May 22, and can even do so in a province different from their usual assignment.
Families can select up to three centers in their application and will be notified of their children's acceptance into the program starting June 25. The program, which has seen increasing demand, recorded the participation of 18,495 Primary and ESO students last summer, an increase of 2,700 students compared to the previous call and the highest figure since its inception in 2019. In the 2024 edition, 335 educational centers and over 2,100 teachers joined.
This program is aimed at students in public or publicly funded schools who face difficulties in achieving competencies or passing their current course objectives. Its main goal is to improve skills in reading, logical-mathematical reasoning, linguistic abilities, and English, complemented by sports activities and the promotion of healthy habits.
The established schedule is from nine in the morning to two in the afternoon during July, with students divided into two groups per fortnight. Priority will be given to those who apply for the full month. Groups are organized by grade level, with a minimum of five and a maximum of fifteen students. Workshops include Linguistic Reinforcement, Mathematical Reinforcement, English, and Physical-Sports Activity and Healthy Lifestyle Habits. To achieve its objectives, participating centers receive didactic materials and a guide with orientations on active and innovative methodologies, aiming to prevent academic failure and early school leaving.
