Andalusian Startups Secure 77 Million Euros in Investment During Q1 2026

Universal DX from Seville and IKOS Advanced from Almería lead fundraising efforts with 62 and 8 million euros respectively.

Seven Andalusian startups successfully raised a total of 77 million euros in investment during the first quarter of 2026, with Universal DX from Seville and IKOS Advanced from Almería emerging as the primary recipients of these funds.

Startup investment in Spain reached 731 million euros in the first quarter of 2026, with over 10% allocated to Andalusian companies. While Barcelona maintains its lead in investment volume, Seville has positioned itself as a key city, largely due to the significant 62 million euro investment secured by Universal DX. This period marks a notable increase in operations across Andalucía, with seven companies receiving funding, compared to just two startups that raised slightly over 20 million in the same quarter of 2025.
Universal DX, the biotechnology company based in Seville, was a major success story, securing 62 million euros. These funds are earmarked for advancing its innovative technology for early cancer detection using Artificial Intelligence. This transaction represents the fourth largest investment by volume recorded for a startup nationally in Q1 2026. Nearly 30 million of this amount comes from the Ministry for Digital Transformation, through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT). Previously, in February 2025, Universal Diagnostics (UDX) had already obtained a 20 million euro loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support the development and commercialization of its liquid biopsy solutions.
In second place, IKOS Advanced, an agrotech company from Almería, raised 8 million euros. This company, which reported 7 million euros in revenue last year, specializes in applying Artificial Intelligence to the agricultural sector. The funding round saw Impact Bridge Asset Management join its shareholder base, bolstering its resources for platform expansion and consolidation in core markets.
Other Andalusian startups also secured significant investments. Grodi Tech, another agrotech firm from Málaga, obtained 2.5 million euros in a round led by Swanlaab Innvierte Agri Food Tech and supported by Axon Desarrollo Andalucía. This funding will drive the industrialization of its VEGA 11 robot, designed for greenhouses. Meanwhile, Taalentfy, a software company also from Málaga, secured 1.5 million euros to accelerate its growth and expand its AI-based employability technology in Spain and Latin America. The Cádiz-based DynamicsVR, focused on health and wellness, received 1.3 million euros for international expansion and to strengthen its clinical rehabilitation platform using virtual environments.
Finally, Arca Digital, a Seville-based startup specializing in corporate pension plans, closed a one million euro funding round, co-led by Draper B1 and Robin Capital, with participation from Newschool.vc and several business angels. This investment aims to accelerate its growth in the social welfare sector in Spain. Lastly, Olimpro, a Seville foodtech company producing artisanal protein ice creams, secured 300,000 euros to upgrade its machinery, increase production, and expand its retail distribution network, targeting 1.5 million in revenue.
