The Parliament of Andalusia is intensifying efforts to prepare a provisional hall to host the investiture session of the XIII legislature, scheduled for June 11, due to ongoing restoration works in the main building.

Restoration works at the Parliament of Andalusia are progressing against the clock to ensure the provisional plenary hall is ready for the upcoming investiture session. This crucial session for the formation of the XIII legislature is set for June 11, following the elections on May 17.
The chosen venue for this event is the Alberto Jiménez Becerril hall, which is currently being adapted to accommodate the 109 elected parliamentarians. This rectangular space, smaller than the usual Las Cinco Llagas chapel, must house the seats, the Chamber's table, and the voting scoreboard, in addition to the technical infrastructure required for session broadcasts.

These Parliament reform works began a few weeks ago to coincide with the end of the legislature, thus taking advantage of the time when no plenary sessions are held.

The Las Cinco Llagas chapel, the usual venue for plenary sessions, is currently undergoing extensive restoration, with scaffolding and plastic coverings protecting the furniture. These works, expected to last several months, prevent its use for the start of the next legislature, necessitating the provisional hall.
The comprehensive restoration of the Parliament, an emblematic 16th-century Renaissance building declared a Site of Cultural Interest, will focus on cleaning, consolidating, and restoring nearly 9,000 square meters of facades, spires, the plenary hall, and the vault of the Salón de los Pasos Perdidos. An estimated 200 tons of calcarenite stone will be needed for repairs.
The awarded budget for these works amounts to 4.11 million euros, funded by the Parliament's own resources, and the project is expected to last approximately 23 months. The technical direction is led by Antonio Campos and Adán Carlos Ramos, with Actúa Infraestructuras S.L. as the awarded company.
