The heat is expected to intensify from Saturday onwards, particularly in the interior of the autonomous community. Seville, Cordoba, and Jaen provinces will see highs potentially reaching 42 degrees Celsius, prompting the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) to issue yellow and orange level warnings across various regions.
The most affected areas will include the Guadalquivir Valley, the Sevillian and Cordoban countryside, the Jaen section of the Guadalquivir river plain, Sierra Morena, and El Condado. On Friday, these zones will already experience temperatures that could locally reach 40 degrees Celsius between midday and 9:00 PM.
For Saturday, the subtropical ridge is set to intensify the heat, raising alerts to orange level in districts of Jaen, where temperatures are predicted to exceed 40 degrees. Yellow alerts will extend to new areas such as Sierra de Cazorla and Segura, and to Granada localities in the Genil River Basin.
On Sunday, the thermometer's climb is expected to continue. Alerts will be maintained in the Guadalquivir Valley and Cazorla, and will expand to the entire provinces of Cordoba and Jaen, with highs potentially reaching 42 degrees Celsius. Even coastal areas like Almeria capital and the Poniente Almeriense could register up to 37 degrees.
The provinces of Malaga, Cadiz, and Huelva will be the only ones without official heat warnings this weekend, although they will also experience a significant temperature rise. Malaga capital is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while temperatures in the Atlantic coast capitals will be four to six points lower.
Nights will also be affected by this high-pressure ridge, with the forecast of 'torrid nights'—defined by Aemet as minimum temperatures above 25 degrees Celsius—primarily in Malaga and Almeria. The rest of the region can expect tropical nights with minimums above 20 degrees Celsius.
