The A7 highway in the eastern district of Malaga experienced significant traffic congestion on Friday afternoon due to a traffic accident. The incident, which occurred at kilometer 972 near the exit for Rincón de la Victoria, resulted in up to eight kilometers of tailbacks in the direction of Almería, between kilometers 972 and 980.
According to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), the vehicles involved in the collision between two cars have been removed from the roadway. The Traffic Management Center confirmed that traffic has begun to flow, reducing the congestion to two kilometers. Normalcy was restored in the area around 4:30 PM, approximately two hours after the incident.
The 112 Andalusia Emergency Service reported that the accident occurred around 2:30 PM. Traffic Civil Guard officers were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and restore traffic flow. Fortunately, emergency medical services were not required as there were no injuries reported from the collision.
Additionally, traffic complications were reported on the same A7 highway in San Pedro de Alcántara, Marbella, affecting both directions. Incidents also occurred in the Ortega Prados tunnel, known as the Carlos Haya false tunnel, on the MA-20 towards Almería.
