Ronda came close to full hotel occupancy during the recent October 12th holiday, which marks Hispanic Day and the feast of the Virgen del Pilar. Occupancy reached 98.43%, according to Tourism Councilor Ángel Martínez.
The councilor highlighted that the Tajo Gorge Trail, which completed its second phase on September 16th, has established itself as one of the city's biggest draws, attracting over 162,000 visits so far this year.
During this festive period, Ronda nearly doubled its population, welcoming over 31,000 visitors. The Municipal Tourist Office assisted nearly 3,000 people, with a balance between national and international tourists. Visitors from Andalusia, particularly Seville, were prominent, alongside those from the Valencian Community and Madrid. Internationally, France, Germany, and Italy stood out, as well as long-haul markets like the United States and Canada.
Martínez emphasized the significant economic boost that tourist influx provides to the city, in terms of job creation and prosperity. In response to mobility challenges during peak times, the City Council is considering the creation of a temporary parking area at the fairgrounds with a shuttle service to the center to alleviate congestion during periods of high tourist traffic.
