The 'la Caixa' Foundation, via CaixaBank, has signed an agreement with the Association of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of Ronda to allocate the financial aid. The event took place at the Ronda City Hall, attended by the mayor, Mari Paz Fernández, and the Councillor for Business, Mari Carmen Martínez.
The adverse weather conditions forced the inhabitants of Grazalema to abandon their homes earlier this year. Many of them relocated to Ronda, where they were hosted thanks to an aid program organized by the City Council and coordinated by the mayor. For 11 days, Ronda provided assistance to around 600 Grazalema residents, and to a lesser extent, to inhabitants of La Estación de Benaoján who were evacuated due to the risk of the Guadiaro River flooding.
The main reception point was the sports center of the El Fuerte Sports Complex, which offered daily meals, along with services such as a playroom, clothing donation point, hygiene products, and medical and psychological counseling, thanks to the involvement of chefs and numerous donations. Ronda's solidarity has been widely recognized.
Mayor Mari Paz Fernández and Carlos Ramírez, president of the Association of Brotherhoods and Confraternities of Ronda, expressed their gratitude to the 'la Caixa' Foundation and CaixaBank for their support.
