Metal structure shoring up a ruined house in Ronda.

The Ronda City Council has installed a metal structure to shore up a state-owned ruined house in the historic center, following the Spanish Government's failure to respond to municipal requests.

Due to the inaction of the central government, the owner of the property, the Ronda City Council has been forced to intervene to prevent the collapse of a ruined house located on Armiñán street. Mayor María de la Paz Fernández explained that a large metal structure has been installed to ensure pedestrian safety.
The mayor stated that despite sanctioning proceedings and fines issued to the Spanish Government, it has not carried out the necessary work to guarantee the building's safety. Therefore, the City Council has taken on the responsibility of implementing urgent measures.
The property, situated on one of the city's busiest streets and listed within the historic complex due to conservation issues, had been deteriorating for years. The Ronda City Council has had to disburse 78,000 euros to carry out these emergency measures, an expense that will be registered as a charge on the property.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, Jesús Vázquez, reported that in Ronda, there are 51 properties in poor condition inventoried, 30 of them in the historic center. Of these, 16 present serious risk, 14 medium, and 21 low. The City Council has already taken action on 30 of them through ruin declarations, coercive fines, or subsidiary demolitions, such as those carried out on Tenorio street (5,500 euros), Espíritu Santo street (38,000 euros), and Cuesta de Santo Domingo (15,000 euros), the latter intensified after a storm.
