The general secretary of the PSOE of Málaga, Josele Aguilar, has called on the residents of Ronda to evaluate the management of the regional president on May 17 in the Serranía de Ronda. During an event in defense of the towns, Aguilar stated that the regional president has not materialized any of the promises made in the region, describing it as one of the areas most neglected by current policies.
“"If there is one region that has been particularly mistreated by the policies of the regional president, it has been the Serranía de Ronda."
Aguilar criticized the regional president's recent absence in Ronda, contrasting it with his visits and promises when he was a candidate. He also suggested that the president should demand the resignation of the local mayor, whom he described as “cornered by justice,” to avoid further “shame” for the people of Ronda.
Among the unfulfilled promises, the socialist leader mentioned the promised highway for Ronda, of which “not a single meter has been built,” as well as the lack of improvements on the Ronda-San Pedro road and in the hospital and healthcare services, whose situation, he claimed, has worsened. Socialist councilor and provincial board member, Fátima Fernández, added that up to four highways were promised but “have remained as studies and on paper,” and recalled the problems on the San Pedro road, which was cut off due to a landslide.
The socialist spokesperson in Ronda, Francisco Cañestro, appealed to the voters of the regional government party, asking if the city has improved in the last four years in aspects such as public health, the hospital, education, or dependency care. He denounced the halt of construction on a public socio-health hospital and the abandonment of the archaeological site of Acinipo.
For her part, the general secretary of the PSOE of Ronda, Isabel Aguilera, described the failures as a “massive lie,” highlighting the deterioration of public health, the lack of infrastructure, and the abandonment of historical heritage, which is particularly serious in a monumental city like Ronda. The event also featured an archaeologist and a representative from the public health platform in the Serranía de Ronda.
