During the meeting, held at the town hall and also attended by the delegate for Social Services, Miguel Ángel Casal, the Mayoress congratulated Bernal on her new responsibility leading the organization, which has been recognized as being of public utility since 1996. Afemen currently serves over 50 individuals with mental illness and their families in the city.
The mayor gained firsthand insight into the association's projects and needs, reiterating the commitment of the Sanlúcar de Barrameda City Council to continue close collaboration in mental health care. She highlighted that the new municipal budgets include an increased allocation for this group.

The Mayoress expressed her confidence that the collaboration will continue to strengthen to improve the care and quality of life for people with mental illness and their families in Sanlúcar.
