The National Police has processed six administrative sanction proceedings in Ronda (Málaga) against the tenant of a property. The reason is the alleged facilitation of fraudulent residency registrations for half a dozen foreign citizens who never resided at the address.
The migrants were in an irregular situation at the time of the municipal registry procedures, and the aim of the scheme, according to investigations, was to regularize their status in Spain. The investigation began after it was detected that several Moroccan nationals were using the same address in Ronda for their documentation procedures.
After analyzing the municipal registry documentation and conducting inquiries in the vicinity of the property, officers confirmed that the registered foreigners did not live together or reside at the building. It was anticipated that these registrations would be used to apply for residency permits.
The Foreigners Law considers it a serious offense to authorize the registration of a person at a property without it being their real residence. This can lead to a financial penalty ranging from 501 to 10,000 euros for each improperly registered person, provided the acts do not constitute a criminal offense. The proceedings initiated are administrative in scope and involve fines for the tenant.
