The activity, titled 'El Ejido, much more than greenhouses', was initiated by a teacher and their Early Childhood Education students. The project's conclusion was attended by the highest municipal authority and a councilor, who praised the initiative for fostering curiosity and interest among the young children in the region's economic pillar, agriculture, as well as its heritage and customs.
The participants detailed their research, which began with the idea of explaining to astronauts what lies behind the greenhouses visible from space in the area. From this premise, the students explored the local environment, discovering its culture, its people, and its richness.
“"These types of projects promote interculturality and help the youngest children form their identity as 'ejidenses'."
As part of this cultural immersion, the educational center has planned a special program for the coming week, coinciding with the festival of San Marcos. This will include flamenco and castanet workshops, as well as a parade of floats simulating the San Marcos Procession-Pilgrimage, thus strengthening the students' connection with the popular traditions of the municipality.
It is worth noting that these students were finalists in the 'La cantera de Andalucía Directo' awards gala for their report 'A hospital in the school'. This recognition underscores the students' ability to communicate and analyze their social reality from an early age, consolidating the center as a benchmark in pedagogical innovation within the province.
