The Governing Commission of Roquetas de Mar Town Hall has approved the tender for the demolition of the current Municipal House and adjacent spaces, with demolition expected to begin by the end of the year.

The Town Hall of Roquetas de Mar has given the green light to the tender for the demolition of its current municipal headquarters and surrounding areas. Following this step, a 30-day period will open for the submission of bids, with the aim of awarding the contract so that demolition can commence before the end of this year, as explained by the mayor, Gabriel Amat.
The plan is for the new Town Hall, designed as a "modern and functional" building, to be completed by 2028. This project, which includes the renovation of the Plaza de la Constitución area, aims to dignify the urban center and provide facilities suitable for a city with over 115,000 inhabitants.
The definitive project for the new municipal building will be available in the first half of September, with construction approval anticipated for early October. If timelines are met, construction work could begin in January or February 2027, with an estimated duration of two years.
The total investment for this project amounts to 15 million euros, of which 3 million will be contributed by the Provincial Council of Almería. Concurrently, the relocation of civil servants to other municipal centers will begin to ensure the continuity of services to residents.
The new administrative center is conceived as a space prioritizing modernity, aesthetic design, and functionality, aiming to improve citizen services and facilitate procedures. The design, by the architecture firm Carbajal y Acta, includes the creation of a large central atrium, open and modular spaces, and a rooftop area for gatherings.
The intervention also involves the comprehensive renovation of the Plaza de la Constitución and adjacent public spaces, freeing up over 560 square meters to integrate into a new civic axis. The goal is to connect the plaza with Plaza Luis Martín, creating a large urban square that reinforces the municipality's identity.
The project incorporates criteria for universal accessibility, sustainability, and climate comfort, featuring infiltration gardens, increased green space, efficient LED lighting, and durable materials. Additionally, an underground parking facility with 46 spaces, including electric charging points, will be constructed.
