The 14th edition of the Roquetas de Mar Early Music Festival, ‘Mare Musicum’, continues with a performance scheduled for 9:30 PM at the Castillo de Santa Ana. The ensemble Musica Boscareccia will be the protagonist, with soprano Alicia Amo as a special guest. The group also includes Andoni Mercero (violin and direction), Kepa Artetxe (violin), Aldo Mata (cello), Carlos García-Bernalt (harpsichord), and Juan Carlos de Mulder (archlute).
Musica Boscareccia, founded by soprano Alicia Amo and violinist Andoni Mercero, has performed at prominent festivals such as the Santander International Festival, the Casalarreina Early Music Festival, and the Madrid Sacred Art Festival, among others.
Their first recording, ‘Dulce azento’, focuses on the recovery of unpublished music by Francesco Corselli, including chamber cantatas and sonatas for violin and bass. This album received a nomination for the prestigious international ICMA award. Their second project, ‘Sognando son felice’, is dedicated to Domenico Scarlatti.
Alicia Amo has a solid background in violin and historical singing, having studied at Musikene and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She has performed as a soloist with numerous renowned international symphony and period orchestras, under conductors such as R. Jacobs, M. Minkowsky, and P. Heras-Casado, appearing in theaters like the Teatro Real and the Gran Liceu.
Andoni Mercero, for his part, has won awards in competitions such as the National Pablo Sarasate Prize and the Vittorio Gui International Competition. He has directed orchestras like the Granada City Orchestra and the Baroque Orchestra of Seville from the concertmaster position.
