The Local Security Board of El Ejido, chaired by Mayor Francisco Góngora and Government Subdelegate José María Martín, has established a comprehensive plan to ensure peace and order during both events. The meeting included commanders from the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, Firefighters, and Civil Protection.
For the San Marcos Festivities, significant security enhancements have been introduced. These include the incorporation of a Cavalry Unit for the traditional Fiesta de las Habas, the establishment of an Advanced Command Post (PMA) for the Local Police, and the activation of the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEM) in a pre-alert phase.
The festive security detail will involve almost the entire Local Police force, supplemented by specialized units such as Prevention 092, Traffic Accident Investigation, GOAP, Canine Unit, and the aforementioned Cavalry Unit. The Civil Protection Volunteer Group and a Basic Life Support ambulance will also participate. The National Police will contribute 150 officers and a special service for these dates, including a UPR group with four teams, focusing particularly on evenings and nights.
High public attendance is anticipated for key events such as the concert in the Municipal Park, with an estimated capacity of 8,000 people; the Fiesta de las Habas y el Tocino, expecting around 4,000 attendees; and the San Marcos procession-pilgrimage, which will draw a massive crowd.
Regarding the election day on May 17, the Local Security Board has planned the deployment of Local Police, National Police, and Civil Guard personnel. These forces will be distributed across the municipality's various polling stations to ensure the smooth conduct of the regional elections.
