The mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora, accompanied by the Culture deputy, Almudena Morales, and the Culture councilor, Elena Gómez, toured the 12 stands set up in the Plaza Mayor, marking the start of this literary event that will run until April 19.
The opening day featured Javier Sierra, who presented his book El Plan Maestro in the central tent. The work explores a fortuitous encounter that reveals the "hidden life" of some painting masterpieces. Additionally, Juan del Val shared with readers the keys to his creative process for Vera. Una historia de amor, the winning novel of the Premio Planeta 2025, and signed copies of his work.
The fair brings together seven bookstores, including Colegial, Papelo, Botero, Nevada, Orión, Los Libros de Minny, and Librería de El Corte Inglés, as well as four publishing houses: Letrame Editorial, Yeray Editorial, Ediciones Arcanas, and Instituto de Estudios Almerienses. A central tent has also been set up for presentations and signings, and a stand for the El Ejido Municipal Library, which will host a wide range of activities.
The program will continue with activities such as the presentation of Cuentos del Mar de Alborán by local author Moisés Palmero, a concert by the El Ejido Symphonic Band, and the presentation of Miguel Ángel Cruz Álvarez's novel Tropezar dos veces en la misma piedra. Thursday will conclude with an encounter with Santiago Posteguillo, who will present his third book dedicated to Julius Caesar, Los tres mundos.
Friday will be dedicated to children with activities like Cuentos del Mar de Alborán and the presentation of new children's literature titles by Pedro Mañas and David Sierra Listón. In the afternoon, Ángela Banzas will present her book Cuando el viento hable, a finalist for the Premio Planeta, and David Galán ‘Redry’ will offer a poetic recital.
Saturday's events will include the presentation of El tesoro del pirata by Juan Villén, and a highly anticipated encounter with journalist Vicente Vallés, who will present his book La caza del ejecutor. The afternoon will feature young adult authors Cherry Chic and Alina Not, and presentations of Corazón de oro by Luz Gabás and Majareta by Almerian author Juan Manuel Gil. The day will conclude with Cuentos en clave de Blues.
The final day of the fair will focus on young children with baby story times, family storytelling with Filiberto Chamorro and Sandra Cerezo, as well as workshops and face painting, bringing this intense literary program to a close.
