The incident occurred late Monday evening in the area known as El Canalillo, near the neighboring town of Balanegra. The Guardia Civil is investigating the event, although the arrest was carried out by the Local Police.
According to sources close to the investigation, around 11:15 PM on Monday, a neighbor alerted authorities to gunshots. Guardia Civil, National Police, Local Police, and 061 medical personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Officers discovered a car with bullet impacts on a street. Inside, a married couple, parents of the alleged perpetrator, a 25-year-old Spanish national, were found deceased.
In addition to the two fatalities, four people were injured: a 7-month-old baby, the perpetrator's son, hospitalized in critical condition; a 2-year-old girl; a woman with multiple gunshot wounds; and a man, also seriously injured.
The injured were transported to various medical facilities. One adult was taken to the Hospital Universitario de Poniente in El Ejido, while the other was transferred to the Hospital Torrecárdenas in Almería, where the two minors were also taken. The Hospital Torrecárdenas confirmed that one adult and one baby remain in the ICU.
