Young Family Business Leaders Convene in Málaga to Discuss Future Challenges

The city of Málaga hosted the 22nd National Family Forum Meeting this weekend, where 374 young individuals from family businesses across Spain gathered to analyze current and future challenges under the theme “Origin / Destination”.
Organized by the Institute of Family Business (IEF), with the collaboration of the Andalusian Association of Family Business (AAEF) and sponsored by Deloitte and Banco Santander, the event has become a key meeting point for young shareholders, board members, and executives in the Spanish family business sector.

Throughout the sessions, crucial topics such as innovation, building impactful brands, cybersecurity, and the evolution of strategic sectors like tourism were addressed. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences on decision-making during key moments and the role of entrepreneurship within the family business context.

A notable aspect of this edition was the balanced participation of women, representing 50% of the speakers, highlighting the growing importance of female leadership in family businesses. Furthermore, for the third consecutive year, the meeting was a carbon-neutral event, reflecting the commitment of new generations to sustainability.
Among the prominent speakers were Pilar Martínez-Cosentino, CEO of Grupo Cosentino; Hugo Serra, CEO of GCO; and Ignacio Rivera, Executive President of Hijos de Rivera and the IEF, who shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities in the sector. The next edition, the 23rd National Family Forum Meeting, will be held in 2027 in Avilés.
