This growth represents one of the most significant for the Malaga airport among its operators. The company plans to operate a total of 7,400 annual flights from Malaga, connecting the province with various European destinations.
The main highlights are the three new international routes that will join Wizz Air's network from Malaga throughout 2026. The first to begin operations will be the connection to Varna, a coastal city in Bulgaria, starting in June. This will be followed by the route to Venice, launching in September, and finally the connection to Turin, scheduled for October.
These additions not only expand the airline's presence at Malaga's airport but also strengthen the ties between the Costa del Sol and key markets in Central and Eastern Europe. The airline emphasized that 75% of its fleet consists of Airbus A321neo aircraft, known for their fuel efficiency and lower noise emissions.
“"Malaga is much more than a holiday destination; it is a business and cultural hub that demands top-tier connectivity."
A representative from Turismo Costa del Sol positively assessed the agreement, noting that this commitment opens new business opportunities, not only with established markets like the United Kingdom, Poland, and Italy, but also with emerging markets such as Albania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, and Romania.
Wizz Air, a low-cost airline founded in Hungary and listed on the London Stock Exchange, operates in over 50 countries. It has been recognized for its sustainability in the aviation sector, being named the most sustainable low-cost airline between 2021 and 2025 by the World Finance Sustainability Awards. In Malaga, the company is consolidating its position as one of the fastest-growing operators, focusing on the increasing demand from Eastern European markets towards the Costa del Sol.
