This incident adds to other recent events in the province. Last Friday, an elderly couple, an 80-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman, died from drowning at Las Lindes beach in Torrox-Costa, during a day marked by rough seas.
These events coincide with the launch of the drowning prevention campaign by the Junta de Andalucía, under the slogan 'Don't wait to see it on the news, in water, carelessness is an emergency'. This initiative by the Andalusian Emergency Agency aims to raise public awareness about the importance of adopting safety measures at beaches, rivers, reservoirs, and swimming pools during the summer season.
