The mayor of Torrox, Óscar Medina, inaugurated a modern meat sector facility last weekend in the Cortijo Amaya industrial park, a 1,500 square meter infrastructure that involved a two million euro investment.

The new facility, belonging to the family business DISCARMA, represents a significant step forward in its operational capacity and expansion. According to Medina, this initiative is “another example of the economic development hub that a municipality in continuous expansion has become”.

"We continue to advance so that Torrox also becomes a benchmark in business development."

The municipal leader highlighted that projects like this are not isolated incidents, but rather the result of the sustained growth the municipality has experienced in recent years, covering everything from the town of Torrox to the coast. This growth translates into a progressive increase in business activity and economic opportunities.
The Torrox City Council has actively worked to encourage the establishment of new companies, simplifying administrative procedures and creating a favorable environment for investment. Medina emphasized that “each new business project contributes to strengthening the local productive fabric, generating employment, and consolidating a development model that combines economic growth and quality of life”.
With this new headquarters, DISCARMA plans to expand its distribution routes, which currently cover from Málaga to Motril, including the entire coast and the municipalities of the Axarquía region. The short and medium-term goal is to extend its coverage to the entire Costa del Sol and establish agreements for national distribution.
Company officials noted that the choice of the Torrox industrial park for this infrastructure responds to strategic criteria, highlighting it as a better organized space with greater administrative facilities compared to other nearby locations. The new facilities also include a training area for certified butcher and charcuterie courses, a direct sales point to the public with wholesale prices, and plans to organize gastronomic events and live cooking activities.
