The Railway Union has called for a new 24-hour strike at Renfe for this Wednesday, July 15. The main reason for this mobilization is the alleged non-compliance with agreements reached in November 2023 between the Ministry of Transport and the workers' representation, in addition to a "premeditated abandonment" of the Freight service.
Following the first strike day on June 29, the union denounced "irregularities" by Renfe to "prevent the free exercise" of the right to strike, announcing legal actions.
The Ministry of Transport has established minimum services that will affect 94 out of the 343 scheduled high-speed and long-distance trains, and 234 out of the 650 medium-distance trains. In total, 328 services will be suspended.
The decreed minimum services ensure the circulation of 73% of high-speed and long-distance trains, and 66% of medium-distance trains. For commuter services in several provinces, including Málaga, 75% will be maintained during peak hours and 50% during other times.
Despite the planned cancellations, the strike day on June 29 passed without incident, with "reduced" staff participation according to the union, and Renfe reporting 100% of services were provided.
