Since June 15th, when the special beach surveillance operation began and will continue until September 30th, officers have recorded 241 sanctions. Of these, 116 are linked to the unauthorized street vending of products such as food (pastries, drinks, fruits) and 65 to the sale of textiles and other goods.
The Local Police have warned about the health risks of consuming food and drinks sold without sanitary control, noting the presence of unauthorized vendors selling mojitos and renting out umbrellas.
Camping on beaches has also been a focus of surveillance, particularly in areas like La Malagueta and El Peñón del Cuervo, where 14 fines have been issued. Additionally, seven fines have been recorded for keeping animals on the beaches.
In accordance with the Citizen Coexistence ordinance, 59 fines have been issued, 17 of which are for persistent or intimidating offers of services, such as massages by unqualified individuals. In terms of security, a bladed weapon was seized, and 36 reports were filed for the consumption or possession of drugs.
The police operation also includes monitoring of improper parking, control of personal mobility vehicles and bicycles in pedestrian or prohibited areas, and surveillance of the misuse of boat ramps. To this end, uniformed and plainclothes units, drones, quads, and a buggy are employed, covering the coastline from Monday to Sunday, including night surveillance on the Maritime Promenades.
