The accidental breakage of a Telefónica cable junction box, caused by metro construction machinery on Málaga's Eugenio Gross street, has affected internet and telephone services in the area since Tuesday afternoon. Repair work on the damaged cabling began immediately, with services expected to be restored throughout Wednesday morning.
Sources from the operator stated that Telefónica is in constant contact with the Consejería de Fomento de la Junta de Andalucía, which is overseeing the metro works, to coordinate service restoration. The incident occurred near company facilities on the same Eugenio Gross street.
Although the telephone network operates like a mesh and some services were partially restored by rerouting connections through other cables, it is acknowledged that some customers may still be experiencing internet and telephony issues at home.
