The José María Martín Carpena Sports Palace, inaugurated in 1999, has started an ambitious renovation plan to maintain its status as a top-tier facility. Current works focus on replacing the main court's parquet flooring, funded by the Málaga City Council through Málaga Deporte y Eventos, at an approximate cost of 242,000 euros. The new design will incorporate the club's and city's identifying colors, green and purple.
The current main court's flooring will be moved to the auxiliary court, which will see its capacity nearly double to approximately 1,250 square meters. This upgrade addresses complaints from coaches regarding the daily training surface when the central court is occupied by other events.
In the coming weeks, the renovation of the stands will be put out to tender. This project is expected to take about six months for construction off-site, with installation planned for the summer of 2027. This timeline has been coordinated with the Premier Padel event to ensure sufficient time for the upgrades. Spaces, including former radio booths, will be optimized to increase the Carpena's total capacity to 11,000 spectators, also facilitating season ticket management. The new seats will be green and purple, replacing the current blue and grey ones.
This investment in the stands and press area is estimated at around 2.66 million euros. Additionally, the external lighting of the Palace will be tendered, budgeted at 181,500 euros, aiming to enhance its visibility from the highway and enable light shows for events held on the exterior esplanade.
