The Provincial Court of Málaga has been forced to suspend for a second time the jury trial for a crime that occurred in Marbella, in which one man died and another was seriously injured. The decision was made after it was revealed that one of the accused was the victim of a shooting, receiving two bullet impacts, which prevented him from attending the hearing in proper condition.
This incident adds to a history of delays in the case, which had already been postponed in January due to issues related to legal assistance. The firearm assault took place the night before the trial was scheduled in the hamlet of Zalea, in Pizarra, Málaga. The National Police has launched an investigation to clarify the facts and determine the authorship of the attack.
The Prosecutor's Office is requesting a total of 114 years in prison for the three defendants, accused of murder, attempted murder, and other charges. The events date back to November 2019, when an armed attack occurred in the Andasol urbanization, in the Alvarito Playa area, east of Marbella. The police investigation linked the case to drug landings from Morocco on the Marbella coast.
The suspension of the trial not only implies a new reorganization of the judicial calendar but also adds a new episode of violence to an already complex procedure marked by multiple setbacks. The Court will now have to set a new date for the hearing.
