This Monday, June 29, a collection drive for medical supplies will be held at the Municipal Center for Participatory Resources of the Málaga City Council, located at Calle Corregidor Francisco de Molina, 1. The initiative, organized by the Rapid Response Volunteer Group and the Civil Association Somos Integración, aims to assist the Venezuelan population affected by last week's earthquakes.
Donations can be made between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Priority is given to collecting medical products for emergencies, such as painkillers, antibiotics, antipyretics, and antiseptics, as well as treatments for chronic diseases. Physiological saline, gauze, dressings, masks, and hand sanitizers are also requested.
Additionally, the Rapid Response Group has requested emergency lamps, batteries, and flashlights. The Málaga City Council, through its External Action Area, has already contacted the Consul General of Venezuela in Spain, Nancy Lira, to offer institutional support and organize collection campaigns for necessary resources.
As a gesture of solidarity, a minute of silence will be observed at 12:00 PM on Monday on the exterior steps of the City Hall, joining the FEMP's proposal in support of the victims and the Venezuelan people.
The Rapid Response Group, founded in 2020, focuses on direct action for emerging needs and has participated in various humanitarian aid operations, including assisting vulnerable individuals during the pandemic, sending aid after the November 2024 Dana event, providing assistance due to the war in Ukraine, and responding to the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey (2023) and Morocco (2023).
