The end of the Málaga Fair traditionally marks the beginning of the end of summer and, with it, the return to classrooms for thousands of students. The 2026-2027 academic year will commence progressively in the Málaga province, ensuring a minimum number of teaching days according to the educational stage.
The official calendar states that the First Cycle of Early Childhood Education will be the first to return on Thursday, September 3rd. A week later, on September 10th, classes will begin for the rest of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. September 15th will be the turn for Secondary Education and Special Regime Education, while Language Schools and Higher Artistic Education will start the course on September 21st.
The academic year will guarantee a minimum of 178 teaching days for Early Childhood Education (second cycle), Primary Education, and Special Education, and 175 days for Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, Language Education, and Artistic Education.
School holidays include October 12th (National Day of Spain), November 2nd (All Saints' Day, moved to Monday), and December 7th and 8th (Constitution Day and the Immaculate Conception, respectively). Christmas holidays will run from December 23rd to January 6th.
The White Week will be celebrated at the end of February, from the 22nd to March 1st, coinciding with the holiday for Andalusia Day (February 28th). Easter holidays will begin on March 22nd, with students returning to classrooms on the 29th of the same month. The last holiday of the school calendar will be May 1st, 2027, for Labour Day.
Regarding local holidays, specific compensatory measures have been established. In schools where the two local holidays do not coincide with teaching days, March 29th and May 3rd, 2027, will be considered non-teaching days. If only one local holiday coincides with a teaching day, that day and May 3rd will be holidays. If both local holidays fall on teaching days, these two days will be non-teaching.
