After several days of unusually high temperatures for the season, generally exceeding 25 degrees Celsius, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a warning about the imminent arrival of a Depresión Aislada en Niveles Altos (DANA), or isolated depression at high levels. This weather phenomenon is expected on Friday and Saturday, marking the end of the stable climate.
Wednesday is anticipated to be the warmest day of the week, with thermometers potentially reaching 30 degrees Celsius in areas such as the Guadalhorce valley and inland points like La Viñuela. In the Málaga capital, maximum temperatures will be around 29 degrees Celsius. Additionally, the entry of suspended dust is expected, contributing to the sensation of heat.
From Thursday onwards, temperatures will gradually begin to fall, with maximums settling around 25 degrees Celsius. By Friday, the drop will be more pronounced inland, with Ronda registering about 21 degrees Celsius, while on the coast, such as in the capital and Vélez-Málaga, temperatures will remain around 24 degrees Celsius.
The likelihood of precipitation will increase considerably with the arrival of the DANA. Showers are expected, with a 75% probability in the westernmost part of the province, including Manilva and Estepona, as well as in the vicinity of Marbella and Ojén. Inland in the eastern half, the probability of rain could reach 90% in towns like Archidona and Colmenar. These unstable conditions will persist during the first half of Saturday, gradually decreasing thereafter.
