Between January 1 and June 30, the Andalusian subway system moved nearly ten million people. Data shared by the Andalusian Government indicates that the average number of daily trips stands at around 55,000, with the system reaching over one and a half million trips per month on average.
One of the periods of highest demand for the Metro de Málaga is during Holy Week. This year, the subway transported nearly 720,000 passengers during the celebration, marking the highest historical figure recorded by the service during this festival. To meet demand, 68 hours of uninterrupted service were included during the special operation.
Regarding payment methods, the multimodal pass from the Metropolitan Transport Consortium has become the most used method, accounting for 43% of validations. The Metro Málaga wallet's share has decreased to 36%, while digital options such as the occasional pass, MásMetro, or Postpago ABT collectively account for 5%.
Mario Muñoz-Atanez, Minister of Public Works and Mobility, highlighted that these figures reflect how the Metro de Málaga "has positioned itself at the center of mobility." He assured that the usage data demonstrate that "we offer a quality service" and that the population "responds by using it as their preferred means for daily travel."
