The Fair and Festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes will take place from September 22 to 27, offering a wide variety of activities for all audiences. The program includes concerts by artists such as Siempre Así, Los Chunguitos, Mojinos Escozíos, Kiko & Shara, and Cantores de Híspalis, in addition to orchestras and various musical proposals. The event aims to be a meeting point, a place for coexistence, and a celebration for the municipality.
The mayor of Pozoblanco, Santiago Cabello, highlighted that the fair combines tradition with top-level cultural and leisure proposals. The program includes traditional events such as the 'dianas floreadas' (flower-filled dawn parades), the tribute to the elderly, the tribute to the absent resident of Pozoblanco, the parade of giants and big-heads, the horse and carriage parade, and fireworks. The fair will officially begin on Tuesday, September 22, with the Cabalgata de Gigantes y Cabezudos, followed by a mass and procession of the image of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.
Music will be one of the main attractions, with notable performances in various tents. Teatro El Silo will host two theatrical productions: the play "Se alquila" on Wednesday the 23rd and the musical theater "La prodigiosa zapatera" on Thursday the 24th. Additionally, the painting exhibition "Materia, color y libertad" will open at the Círculo de Bellas Artes.
Mornings will be marked by the 'Dianas Floreadas' performed by the Municipal Music Band. There will be activities for the elderly and families, such as the Grandparent and Grandchild Day and the Tribute to Our Elders. Sports will have their space with basketball, ping pong, and domino tournaments, among other competitions.
The equestrian world will have a prominent presence with an equestrian show and the traditional Horse and Carriage Parade. The bullfighting fair will feature a bullfight on Saturday the 26th and a bullfight with rejones on Sunday the 27th at the Coso de Los Llanos.
The City Council will provide information points, a violet point (for gender violence support), and a nursing room, reinforce bus services, and maintain a noise-free hour in the attractions from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM for individuals with sensory sensitivities.
