The Spanish Navy has selected the Port of Málaga as one of the key locations for the MARSEC-26, its main annual maritime security exercise. This event, scheduled for April 15, aims to strengthen preparation and coordination among various entities in the face of current challenges in the maritime environment, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
Throughout the day, 15 different scenarios will be carried out along the Spanish coast, with the Port of Málaga being one of the enclaves where the effectiveness of the operational response will be evaluated. The simulations will focus on complex situations such as illegal human trafficking and potential terrorist activities, testing the reaction capacity of the involved organizations.
“"The scenarios posed reproduce situations of high complexity that require coordinated, effective, and sustained action over time by all involved organizations."
The MARSEC-26 exercise aligns with the National Maritime Security Strategy 2024, directly addressing the risks and threats affecting the maritime domain. The Maritime Action Force, in collaboration with other agencies and administrations, will play a fundamental role in the execution of these maneuvers, contributing to the reinforcement of surveillance, control, and protection capabilities in maritime areas of national interest.
The participation of the patrol boat Vigia and units of the Civil Guard underscores the institutions' commitment to maritime security. This exercise is consolidated as a benchmark in joint training and preparation to face present and future challenges in and from the sea.
