The Second Vice President and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, is set to participate in the central event of the International Workers' Day mobilizations, which this year will be held in Málaga. This decision to host the event outside of Madrid was agreed upon by the organizing unions late last year.
The general secretaries of CCOO and UGT, along with other union spokespersons, have clarified that the choice of Málaga is unrelated to any electoral context, emphasizing that the planning was done in advance. The demonstration, themed 'Rights, not trenches. Wages, housing and democracy', will also advocate for peace and the need for positive macroeconomic data to benefit workers through wage increases.
“"It is essential to safeguard labor rights and democracy against deregulation and privatization policies that threaten the working class in general and also stifle the people of Málaga."
The demonstration route will commence at 11:30 AM from Alameda de Colón, at the corner with Muelle Heredia. It will proceed along Alameda Principal and Calle Larios, concluding in Plaza de la Constitución, where a large turnout is anticipated.
