The Fundación Duques de Soria, in collaboration with the Fundación Unicaja, has organized an academic gathering that will take place between today and Wednesday in Málaga. This seminar, titled The Generation of '27 and Andalusia: territory, influences and legacy, will bring together national and international specialists to delve into the connection between this influential literary movement and Andalusian culture.
The event, held at the Fundación Unicaja Cultural Center in Málaga, aims to foster intellectual exchange on the Silver Age of Spanish culture. This seminar is held as a prelude to the centenary year of the Generation of '27, highlighting the relevance of its study and dissemination.
The academic program will address the Andalusian influence on the Generation of '27 from various perspectives, including poetry, philosophy, painting, music, theater, and dance. Key figures such as Federico García Lorca, María Zambrano, Rafael Alberti, and Luis Cernuda will be analyzed, with an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes the role of performing arts and personalities like Antonia Mercè La Argentina.
Although the seminar is primarily designed for specialists, it will include two activities open to the general public: the inauguration and the closing ceremony. The inaugural day will feature a unique proposal including an opening by Dr. María Cabrera and a tribute to dance. The closing event will be led by a professor from the University of Nottingham, who will deliver a lecture on the construction of Andalusia's image in Lorca's work.
With this initiative, both foundations reaffirm their commitment to research, cultural dissemination, and academic dialogue, focusing their attention on one of the most significant movements in contemporary Spanish literature.
