The Málaga City Council has approved a call for subsidies totaling 90,000 euros, allocating nearly 2,200 euros to each brotherhood to cover expenses for flowers, candles, and musical accompaniment during Holy Week 2026.

The local government board of Málaga has given the green light to a public call for subsidies aimed at the brotherhoods and fraternities that are part of the Holy Week Brotherhood Association. These aids seek to provide economic support to finance the costs associated with the acquisition of flowers, candles, and the hiring of musical accompaniment, crucial elements for this year's processions.
According to a statement from the Málaga City Council, the total amount of the subsidy is 90,000 euros, which translates into an allocation of 2,195.12 euros for each brotherhood or fraternity. To be beneficiaries, entities must have incurred expenses exceeding 3,000 euros (including VAT) and justify them with invoices corresponding to the current year. The aid is compatible with other subsidies and requires the inclusion of the municipal corporate image in the brotherhoods' advertising dissemination.
Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically, preferably through the electronic headquarters of the Málaga City Council, and the deadline for doing so is 20 working days from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP). The main objective of this initiative is to promote culture, recognizing Holy Week as one of the most significant cultural manifestations of the city, and to ensure its continuity over time through this economic support.
In addition to the aid for brotherhoods, the local government board has also addressed other relevant issues. In human resources, the modification of the definitive lists of applicants for three positions of Official Mason has been approved, and the members of the qualifying tribunal for calls for 41 positions of Official School Caretaker and three positions of Official Plumber have been updated.
In the area of contracting, an appeal for reconsideration from the company Sealand On Offshore Services, SL, has been dismissed, confirming a penalty of 82,383.93 euros and the prohibition from contracting due to non-compliance with the Public Sector Contracts Law. The company failed to adequately meet the solvency requirements for the tender for lifeguard services on Málaga beaches. Finally, the declaration of 59 municipal vehicles as unusable and their sale to Autodesguace La Alberca, S.L. for 11,800 euros has been approved, and a detailed study in Estrella del Mar street and Camino de Totalán has been deemed inadmissible. An agreement on teleworking for Málaga City Council staff has also been approved, seeking to modernize administration, improve work-life balance, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
