The Málaga City Council, through its Local Government Board, has approved a fund of 90,000 euros in direct aid for the city's brotherhoods, aiming to support the essential expenses of their Holy Week processions.

This initiative seeks to alleviate the economic burden on brotherhoods for acquiring flowers, wax, and contracting musical groups, which are crucial elements for the staging of the processions. Each beneficiary entity can apply for 2,195.12 euros, provided they meet the requirements set out in the call and justify an expenditure exceeding 3,000 euros, including VAT.
The call is specifically aimed at brotherhoods that are part of the Agrupación de Cofradías de Semana Santa and have processed this year. The Consistory defends this line of support as a fundamental tool to consolidate Holy Week, considered one of the cultural manifestations with the greatest impact in the city, both for its heritage value and its external projection.

To access these grants, brotherhoods must submit invoices from 2026 proving expenses directly related to the Holy Week procession, with a minimum outlay of 3,000 euros. Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically through the Málaga City Council headquarters, with a deadline of 20 working days from the publication of the call in the Official Provincial Gazette. Only one application per brotherhood will be accepted.
In addition to this support for Holy Week, the Local Government Board addressed other matters. In Human Resources, the definitive lists of admitted and excluded candidates for three bricklayer official positions were modified, and changes were made to the composition of qualifying tribunals for 41 school caretaker positions and three plumber positions.
In public procurement, an appeal by the company Sealand On Offshore Services, SL against a penalty of 82,383.93 euros imposed by the City Council, related to the beach rescue service, was dismissed. A new teleworking agreement for municipal staff was also approved, along with the sale of 59 municipal fleet vehicles to Autodesguace La Alberca, S.L. for 11,800 euros.
