The Municipal Housing Institute (IMV) has concluded the bidding process for the last of three lots that were put out to tender in December. The developer Genivs has been awarded this lot, which will allow for the construction of approximately 600 homes, adding to those already planned.
These new VPO housing units will have a maximum cost of 450 euros per month for one-bedroom apartments and 600 euros for two-bedroom units. Genivs' offer represents a 21% reduction on the initial price requested by the Málaga City Council, which was based on a scale of 10 euros per square meter.
The two previous lots were awarded to the Casas and Salas Foundations, both specialized in this type of protected housing project. The homes, with usable areas ranging from 45 to 60 square meters, will receive a municipal subsidy of 18,000 euros per completed unit, totaling an investment of 31 million euros by the City Council through the IMV.
“"The rental will be rotational, with a maximum duration of 7 years, unless it is for people over 65. 60% of the homes will be allocated to those under 35 years old."
The accommodations will include common areas representing at least 15% of the building's usable surface. Additionally, commercial premises will not exceed 10% of the developable ceiling of the promotion, unless expressly authorized by the IMV.
The lot awarded to Genivs comprises five plots with a total area of 21,919.10 square meters and a buildable area of 42,231.86 square meters, which will allow for the construction of between 649 and 732 accommodations in various locations such as Avenida Marcelino Camacho and Calle Ingeniero Agustín Escolano in Campanillas, Avenida Andrés García Maldonado in Teatinos, and two plots in Cortijo Merino, in the Cruz de Humilladero area.
