Consumers in Málaga are gearing up for the summer discount period, which officially runs from July 1st to August 31st in Andalusia. However, recent seasons have shown a significant trend of major retailers starting their promotions earlier.
The Inditex Group, which includes brands like Zara and Stradivarius, and El Corte Inglés, typically launch their sales on their digital platforms and apps the evening before they become available in physical stores. For 2026, it is estimated that these offers will begin in the last week of June, with June 24th as the likely date for online purchases and June 25th for Inditex Group's physical stores.
Meanwhile, El Corte Inglés plans to start its sales in shopping centers on June 26th, a Friday before the official July start, also following the custom of offering prior discounts on its website. The Amazon platform has also announced that its summer Prime Day event will be moved up to June in 2026, unlike previous editions held in July, although the exact dates have not yet been specified.
“"Physical stores are not obliged to accept returns, unless there is a defect or flaw; and even if they do, the refund may not be in cash, but rather in a store credit or voucher."
In anticipation of the sales rush, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) advises shoppers to create a list of their needs to avoid impulse purchases. It is crucial to verify that the discounted price also displays the original price and to ensure that sale items have been available for at least one month prior. Additionally, it is recommended to always keep the purchase receipt for potential returns, bearing in mind that return policies vary between physical stores and online purchases, where a legal withdrawal period of 14 days applies.
