The municipality of Torremolinos in Malaga has recorded a 5.7% increase in the number of travelers during August compared to the same month last year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE). This translates to an additional 7,954 visitors, bringing the total figure to 146,025 people.
This overall growth is driven by both the national and international markets, with the latter representing 60% of the visitors counted in the eighth month of the year. The average stay in the municipality was 4.9 days.
Regarding overnight stays, Torremolinos positioned itself as the leader in Andalusia, registering 718,237 hotel overnight stays. The occupancy rate by beds reached 90.8%. Overnight stays associated with national tourism grew by 1.2% compared to the previous year, totaling 223,589.
In the annual cumulative figures, Torremolinos has already recorded 3,978,987 overnight stays, with an average stay of 4.7 days, of which 76.1% correspond to international tourism.
Hotel profitability indicators also showed growth. The average daily rate (ADR) stood at 208.5 euros last month, a 14.8% year-on-year increase. Revenue per available room (REVPAR) also rose to 182.2 euros, representing an increase of 11.1%.
Furthermore, the number of staff employed in the hotel sector saw a 15.2% increase, reaching 4,241 people.
