The Royal and Pious Congregation in honor of Ciriaco and Paula has announced a change in the departure time for the procession of Saints Ciriaco and Paula, patrons of Malaga. The procession will now commence at 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 20th, from the Church of the Martyrs.
This decision was made by mutual agreement following a meeting with the Councilor for Citizen Security of Malaga, Avelino Barrionuevo. The modification is due to security concerns, prompted by the scheduling of the promotion match to the First Division between UD Almería and Málaga CF on the same date.
The congregation has also advised that attendees for the procession should present themselves at the side entrance of the Church of the Martyrs by 4:15 PM on the aforementioned Saturday.
The statement, signed by the senior brother, Antonio Ortega Suárez, emphasizes that the earlier start time is a security measure due to the overlap with the sporting event between the two Andalusian teams.
This procession, which the brotherhood has been trying to revitalize for years and is held in celebration of the Patron Saints on June 18th, traditionally began later. Last year, 2025, the procession commenced at 7:00 PM.
