Joaquín Muñoz, one of the anticipated figures for the 2025/26 season, has surpassed expectations upon his return to Málaga CF, showcasing his best form in LaLiga Hypermotion and aiming to significantly contribute to the club's objectives.
In numerical terms, the player is enjoying his most successful professional campaign. With five goals and six assists, he has accumulated 11 goal involvements, his best figures to date. These statistics surpass the 10 contributions from the previous season with Huesca and are expected to increase in the coming weeks.
Despite a discreet start to the season, where only one assist was notable before 2026, his form since February has made him an indispensable player. He has been crucial in matches against teams such as Andorra, Albacete, Huesca, Las Palmas, Eibar, Sporting, and Ceuta, scoring decisive goals and providing assists.
Beyond the numbers, his qualitative impact has been fundamental in ensuring that Málaga CF has not excessively missed key players like Larrubia or Dani Lorenzo. Since the '10' suffered an injury, Joaquín has contributed three goals and two assists, even adapting to play on the right wing to facilitate Ochoa's movement.
His goal-scoring ability, particularly from the left inwards, has been consolidated. Although his skills haven't drastically changed, his confidence and numbers have grown. His presence on the field generates anticipation, with the knowledge that something important might happen, posing a constant threat to opponents, especially with other players like Larrubia, Chupe, or Dani Lorenzo in the squad.
“"I think you can always improve, but right now I feel very hungry, with a lot of energy, I think I'm in the best physical moment, and those are important parts. Now that we are there, we want to take advantage of it."
Currently, Joaquín faces the risk of a suspension due to accumulated yellow cards, a possibility he has been managing since March. A fifth booking against Racing de Santander or Zaragoza would cause him to miss a match, including the hypothetical first playoff game if it occurs at the Ibercaja Estadio. The objective is to avoid suspension and enter the playoffs with a clean slate, managing the situation in the upcoming games.
